Default Ford 3 brush generator not producing much voltage

Hi everyone

I'm trying to get my charging system to work on my carrier. I've done a number of tests and have concluded that the generator is simply not producing enough voltage. When I adjusted the 3rd brush all the way over it produced about 5.5-6 volts compared to 5 volts with it all the way down

I'm really not sure what else I could be doing or trying. One thing I read was that I should see a "ring of blue fire" around the brushes with the cover off while the engine is running. I do not see this at all.

Any suggestions would be most greatfull.

I will come back with some suggestions tonight. How clean is the commutator? Is the Mica undercut? Check the earthing.

Well I have no idea why, but my generator decided to work just fine tonight. It was charging my carrier up just fine and working just as it should.

Maybe for once the little gremlins did constructive work during the night.

They'll probably be back on track soon.
