Canadian jerry can
Hi guys. Didn't know where to ask this but here goes. How do I identify a Canadian 5 gal jerry can dated 50s to 60s. I have a US one but do not recall how CDN was marked.
Thanks |

They were the same. All that I can remember had the USMC stamped on them, along with a date.
The first change in cans that I recall was in the early 80s when some green "Reliable" brand containers entered service. They were more of an off-the-shelf item, and did not go into widespread use. A few years later the Scepter brand cans, spouts and accessories came out, which the Americans seem to have now adopted. There are hundreds of cans from Cdn service out at my favorite scrapyard. |

All I can remember from my time in was that they were green. We had the type with the large screw on cap. Damned if I can recall any markings.

I have some NOS ones from the 80s out back. Remind me in a week and I'll take some photos and post them.

hello Peter
I've had dozens of cans from the 40, 50's and 60's British and US made. I've never seen a specific made in Canada one of this era with exception of the one and two gallon ones from GSW with the broad arrowC on them. The newest one being 1944 that I have. The G503 site has a good section on fuel cans on their forum. It's worth a look
