Nice pictures..
For those of us that don't know those in the pictures ,it would be nice to identify the subjects, left to right..
I always find it more interesting when there is a name to a face...
Thanks..

Alex, the fellow on the left is Mad Max himself, on the right I know but can't remember (haven't had my breakfast beer yet).

Default T'anks...

Thanks Jif..
I re-cog-ni-cised the lad in the middle from the Vegemite induced afflicion from his eyebrows up....
And the god awfull Vegemite staining colour of his once white vest....
He could probably grow the hair back with a mixture of three parts Canadian Maple syrup and five parts Canadian Keiths Beer ,stirred, not shaken ,and rubbed liberally on the offending appendage ,twice daily followed by the internal consumption of the aforementioned Keith's Beer, four quarts per application....
THe cure is immediately recognized to be working by slurred speech...
When in treatment ,it is advisable to let others know that this is a proven medical cure..lest you are mistaken for a piss tank....

Default Excuse me but,

That's one helluva fine looking Spitfire off to the side. Does the thing fly? Whose markings does it wear?

Default The blokes in the photo are:

Geoff was right the one on the left is yours truely and in the middle is the one and only keefy and on the right is my OLDER brother John he owns the WLA.
The spit fire is a goer and is done up in Bobby Gibbs markings, keith should come back with more info (and i got to touch it!!!) The Blitzes made it there the hole 150km in 2 1/2 hours. I didnt get to drive all the way I had to share. My nephews took the controls for a while, Aarons took his girlfriend for a ride so there wasnt even a seat for me to sit in so i had to go in a car.

From one who knows so little,

It really gripes me on these multi national forums to bear witness to the unappreciative laconic remarks.

Why down here in beautiful Oz, with the fresh air and wide open spaces, anyone would know that the unidirectional, unshielded microphone would pick up any spurious responses in a radius of anything up to five miles. To reduce this we Aussies have developed the supercardioid, part omni directional, high gain before feedback, low interference, hexapodal, sinusoidal wave microphone to allow the laugh of the kookaburra to blend harmoniously with the Merlin at full throttle!!

Laugh of the Kookaburra, shure ... I know the sound of a Merlin, though! The other option I thought of was that the bloke on the left just spiked a rare Furry Six-legged Aussie Spider ... to be slow roasted on Keefy's barby ... and blended harmoniously with copious quantities of Vegemite ...

Hanno - I like yours and other interpretations of the mic rig!
It is being wielded by it's creator, Brian Laurence, who specialises in recording location soundscapes. The Mics are 416 types, each with a 60 degree spread to make up a full 360 sound experience which is translated into Dolby surround.
Believe me, the experience is truly awesome and you really feel you are part of the scene.
We recorded the airshow from various perspectives including among the crowd (who seem to be all around you with the aircraft action way in the front) and directly underneath the display, well away from other distracting sounds. On one day the aircraft were flown just for us to record them with the Meteor passing over us at less than tree height at full speed. The experience was awesome - we felt the shockwave and immediately were enveloped in the wake turbulence smelling or warm burnt jet A1 fuel.
Just wait until you see the pics... and the Meteor was making it's famous "blue note" an organ like sound caused by airflow over the 20mm shell ejectors.
Better than vegemite? Better than sex? I'll let you lot judge when the DVD is released!

Here's one I recorded earlier (much higher)

In answer to your query, Bob, yes, it sure does fly! It is painted to represent a Spitfire of 457 (Grey Nurse) squadron of 80 Fighter group in Darwin late in WW2 and bears the codes of Australian Ace Bobby Gibbes DSO DFC*.
I will be interviewing Bobby along with ther members of the sqauadron for the Temora Aviation Museum in the near future.
The Museum have a website with the details of this and other aircraft in the collection.

I'll do that, Bob...
As for the Boomerang, not one, but two are airworthy with another to follow in a couple of years...
Naturally I have filmed one of them - Boomerangs sound like half a C47 with a lot of extra whistling sounds from the cannon ports and flame damper exhaust - pure joy!

Default Technical Prowess

Hi Keefy and Mr. Hudson

AWESOME sounds Keefy. However we must be careful not to alert the rest of the world about our technical prowess when fully describing what they only know as a microphone (or in one case a six-legged spider).

Although if the rest of the world was to start consuming Vegemite, they might also increase their brain-power.

Ada and I are still laughing over the incident at Corowa this year when you were showing us parts of The Year of The Blitz video on your laptop and the aircraft engine noise scared that big Alsation dog.

Bob
