Default Ford Speedometer cable

Hi everyone

I just got what I thought was going to be my speedometer cable for the carrier. However I don't think it is. The part number on the box is "LV7/FD 51E-17261-B" It is approx 11' 5" in length. The fittings on either do not match the speedometer that I have.

Anyone have any ideas to what its for? Or does anyone have a cable ready to go for a carrier that they woudl be willing to part with.

p.s. Pictures to follow soon. Just waiting for the batteries to recharge.

Default So what's......

....in the middle...??

I think you got an original NOS brand new speedometre boosting cable...... long enough to reach from one stalled Ford UC to the other one.....!!!!

Glad to see you are still spending time in the barn....

All the Best for Xmas.

HI Bob

I don't think I fully understand your message. maybe im just tired. its just an empty shaft with the fittings on the end. Like I said the shaft is over 11 feet long. I know the carrier parts manual stated 10'3".

Lots of time spent in the barn. But since its rather cold Im bringing more things home to work on.

Merry Christmas to you and your family also.

Default "its just an empty shaft "

Jordan,

Your youthful niavete is refreshing!

Bob from Ottawa has seen many wondrous thingamajigs in this many trips around the block, not least of which is the connection that is made to interconnect 2 Carriers, thru the speedometer cable, to get them both back on track.

It is kind of like a Vulcan mind meld, or a paddy-wack with a left handed electric cricket bat.

Bob, Alex, and even Geoff may sympathise with your plight "its just an empty shaft ". This the watchword of what happens when you get as much experience as these fine fellows have accumulated.

I, on the other hand, have no idea what they are talking about - what with my clean living and all. But I come from a family of long livers - heck, my grand-dad had a liver this long ...hahaha!

Merry Xmas

Stewart

:dh:

PS - I shall poke around out in the garage and locate the spare internal drive for the cable, and measure it for you. I also have a drive gear from the rear end somewhere out there ...
