My first guess is it looks like the end of a bar clamp that goes to the rear panel.

It appears to be a track tensioning bar.

Sorry guys, Not the track adjusting bar (which lives in the same place on my carrier) I mean the catapult looking thing. It looks like two rubber straps with a metal bit in the middle. Is it for holding something down?

Red shape or blue shape? Opened and viewed at 100%, there are at least two giant C-clamps on the top edges of the armour. Several tools on the floor, and a tool box. There are at least two workers, one standing and a second hunched over in the rear compartment.

Hi Terry, that image is of an LP2. Go to the 3rd image and blow it up.
Cheers.

Default details

That is odd. My first thought was a battery carrying strap. Something that drops over the two terminals and when the strap is lifted, the weight is taken up on the terminal cones. But .... that is something else. Since this is a workshop, could it be something used for adjustment or installation?

Default Water Can strap

This rubber strap bolts into the left front hull area and is used to secure the water can for the Vickers MG.
See atatched pic.

Default Background Mystery Vehicle?

A question for Mike Kelly from the pictures you first posted. I see what is probably a MK3 Covenanter gun Tank parked next to the Carrier in image 379/08 . I thought the only Covenanter Tanks in Australia were Bridge layers,
have you come across other pictures that show the Covenanter in Australia?
Thanks Andrew.

Just a guess. Maybe they were shipped out with the turret and then subsequently converted into bridge-layers ?

Default Crusader Mk.1

The tank to the left of the carrier is a British Cruiser Tank Mk.6-Crusader Mk.1. It was purchased as an example of modern armour for use as a reference sample in the development of the Australian tank. It arrived in August 1941.
