Thumbs up M152 cdn

So my Uncle went to an auction in Northern AB and found an M152 for sale, he knows I am into collecting green/semi green steel so he bid on it and won it, I am now the proud owner of this M152CDN. He thinks it may have been an ambulance but we are not sure. We do know it was built 9 -8 - 1954 and the serial is 91403037, the numbers painted on the inside of both doors and the dash read 54-45212, you can also see X2A pianted on the front bumber with a 4. Anyone know any history on this or know where I could look to find it, oh and a manual too.

Default Welcome to the Green and crazy world of old trucks..

You got yourself a nice radio truck Gary......

.... a rather unique Canadian design..... not the hunt starts for parts.... some one in Wpg has a similar one for sale.... no engine or tranny.....advertised in CMP magazine.....

Goodluck in your project.... keep us up to date with photos....some of us can't read too good.

Default Thanks

Hey Bob

Thanks for that, the auctioneer and others thought this was an ambulance, I suspected otherwise because of the white camo on it. nfortunatly it will be a project that gets looked at later on as I have a C15 that I am currently working on for the Convoy in 2012 and some carriers.

You mention a CMP magazine...how does one get one of these magazines?

An ambulance does not have the side windows, and has double rear doors. The M152 van you have was a Canadian thing. The US had them in very limited numbers as the XM152, and they featured double doors on the back like the ambulance. In Cdn production, they had the single rear door.

Default Cool

So a radio truck it is.....unless of course I can find info based on the serial number that says otherwise. Now I need to research this vehicle and find manuals. My wife says I have a heavy and expensive hobbie...lol I guess I am lucky she is supportive and actually helps me collect this stuff.

Default M152CDN vs M43CD

Gary, your M152CDN is a panel van so hope as you may, you will not find evidence that it was an ambulance. The M43CDN was the Ambulance. Google M152 truck or M43 truck and you will find some information. Likewise Service publications has a nice little inexpensive book ($10.00) on the Canadian 3/4 ton series under the Weapons of War series.

Default M152

Hey Ed

I had given up on the idea of the Ambulance way back when Bob called it a radio truck, in my last post I was trying to say that maybe it was something other than a radio truck, ie: cargo, command, etc, thats all. I know some people here have access to DND records and can find the history of some vehicles.
