They are a updated version of the WW2 no4A mine detector. The visible changes are that they have C-42 era fittings and headsets. When I was in Cypress in 1989 the infantry were at the QM complaining that they were in an oerational theater and still having to use these while back in Canada more modern mine detectors were issued to the units.

Manual is dated 1960, has a Canadian NATO stock number.
looks like it may have been in the repair depot in 1977, as one tag indicates.
