We still wear the Primrose Hackle, which was "willed" to us in perpetuity, when the Lancs were stood down from the Order of Battle.

Ah yes the 20th foot , part of the 6 old corp's of the British army, The 5th foot or The NF of ww1 and the RNF of ww2 , now the RRF in Iraq The 5th foot and the RNF we portry them in reenactmentsa , But we have a following thru the RNF association in England and a Few old sweats here ikn the states , as for the cap we ware the Royal Blue Berry with the Red and White Hackle( red on top of course) with the RNF badge(ww2/Korea) or the RRF badge on it( modern day) , Our Ancient badge and still is today, is ST. George Slaying the Dragon, witch we celebrate every April on St. Georges Day, here in the states and in England. Cheers mate

White diffs.
Brad,
Don't know if they were painted white originally, but I've owned at least 15 carriers over the years and haven't seen any trace of white paint on a diff. Cliff

Perhaps I should tuck a Primrose Hackle in behind the ACMF cap badge on my Slouch Hat, thus creating confusion amongst Commonwealth Forces. Big Mike: Red on top of the hackle...of course...soldier's blood. Our RRF affiliated Bn still visits yearly, as we do with them.
