Here's one for Rob Love. The jeep has the original Signal Stat 800 turn
signals. The military wired them like this..........Power wire from the aux terminal on the ignition swith, through a fuse to the solid state (retrofit) flasher. One wire from the flasher to the turn signal head. From the head there are two wires leading out. One goes to L front and L rear turn signals. The other wire does the same for the right, front and rear.
The system works great......BUT...No flashing light on the turn head stick.
Bulb is ok and wire is there,
But it is not hooked uo.
Question...where can it be connected to work?? The wire and bulb are OK.
But the wire dead ends under the dash.

Where can it be hooked in?

Default need to touch....

....if you want it to flash it has to touch/connect to the left hand wire and the right hand wire...... it will flash whether it is turning R or L

Maybe yours has the exclusive black out option....

Try just a test jumper wire to see if it works....

Your problem is that it was meant for a 3 prong thermal flasher. The third prong on a three prong thermal flasher was for the little bulb in the signal arm.

One alternative would be to splice into the front left and front right wires, with a diode in each to prevent cross feeding. That would have the same effect as the separate contact in the flasher. Also, you cannot take the feed off the rear lamps as that would add the indication of the brake lights to the indicator bulb, which you do not want.

Of course, the simple method would be to go back to a 3 prong flasher.

Default Ohhhhh.......

....you are good! I knew you'd have the answer.

In my friends 53 he has the 24 volt 3 prong flasher clipped to the column just beside the dash. Never dawned on me it was 3 prong. And I have 3 spare ones.

Thanks.

The lamp is grounded inside the control housing. All grounding that wire would do is make a complete loop from ground to lamp to ground.

I thought it might have been an "earth return system", but I remember now that that system requires two separate dash indicating lights.

Here is a wiring diagram I borrowed from the net which gives all the info on the signal stat 800 switch. Credit to the CJ3B website.
