Pictured on 5 June at Bernières-sur-Mer, a Frenchman with his 1943 C15.

It was an ex-Fire Service truck, which he restored from the ground up.

Normandy was excellent, but more on that later.

Here is a start regarding CMP's:

1st picture: Two HUPS on Omaha Beach, Dog green, June 4th. One from Norway (?) and one from Belgium

2nd picture: Chevrolet LAAT from MLU member Keith Orpin on the Etreham campsite....What a beautiful truck and a great attention to detail.....bumper jewels, overflow tank with nice badges, great canvas....nice padlocks....just terrific. Didn't have the chance to meet Keith though.

3rd and 4th: Very nice Ford Derrick seen at Pegasus museum on June 5th. The truck seems to be from Switzerland...Chris, do you know the owner? I loved the wooden rear plate hiding the camping interior.

5th: Another terrific truck and another forum member, Jim Sewell's Sigvan on the Etreham campsite.

Two trucks onboard the ANZAC convoy, first and last picture, one on the beach in Arromanches, the other on "our" campsite in Etreham.

Dutch Chevrolet C60X seen at the Dutch camp in Longues-sur-Mer.....day of the MLU meeting.

Great Ford F60L with Machinery body from Italy, seen on the Isigny campsite and in Vierville-sur-Mer, June 7th and June 4th.

... the owner is from the French speaking part of Switzerland. Saw the truck "live" before Normandy a few years ago. I contacted the owner but haven't got a reply yet.

Hi Chris, was great meeting you. Hope you had a good trip back home!

That body is "home made". The chassis is an F60S, as far as I could tell.

The last picture in the Dutch section shows a C60L with "crew cab".

Default Thanks for posting

Just a quick thanks to all who took pictures and to those who shared them.

Looks like the weather was better this year than in some past years.

Cheers

To those that have photos of MLU members vehicles at this event don't forget I need (ASAP) some more photos for the 2010 MLU calendar.

Sorry but I have to say that if I do not get enough photos by August 30 at the latest I will not produce it due to other commitments

Default Normandy 2009

Guys,
Before I post some pictures, may I first say what a great week I,my eldest daughter, son and brother in law had in Normandy meeting so many like minded collectors from all over the world. Having spoke to many of you on MLU, it was brilliant to put a name to a face !. I hope all of those who are now home had a safe journey ( although I know of one Bedford MW that has been written off, returning home on the M27).
Alex, Thanks for the kind words on my restoration of my C30, and I'm sorry I miss talking to you. For too long these vehicles have been ignored in favour of their American cousins, but every time we stopped we had people asking all sorts of questions about her, especially the veterans, who remembered them foundly. Anyway, attached are a few pictures from Normandy ( I just had to start it with my C30).

G'day All, Chris thanks for posting that link, there are some very interesting pieces of kit in amongst all of that, a bit sad that one of the participants looks like they had a collision on their M/bike and it will need some serious TLC, hope the rider is OK anyway thanks for posting cheers Dennis

Already more than a week ago

1st: I guess this must have been my favorite vehicle in Normandy, last week; a French owned Morris PU. The truck really looked brilliant. The owner worked on the restoration for five years and he also has a Bedford MW. Location is Batterie Hillman, Colleville-Montgomery.
@ Hanno. This must have been the same one you saw five years ago....
@ Mike. pictures for youe website are coming up.

2nd: Another great Morris, this time an CDSW owned by an MVT member. location: Etreham campsite. Sadly I only have one picture of the truck.

3rd: Standard "Tilly" at Longues-sur-Mer
4th: Humber Snipe in front of our tent at the Etreham campsite
5th: Very nice early Bedford MW (sadly covered when I went to take pictures) at the Etreham campsite

Default Aussie utes

I wonder if Lang's ute got together with Ian Mcallum's ute at any stage . That would be a rare sight.....two aussie Chev utes side by side in Europe .

I agree with Alex, the blue Morris is the event winner And I'm not biased in any way at all

BTW Alex , the Standard tilly looks very much like the example that was repatriated (polite way of saying: "internationally border raided") back to the UK from South Australia . Being mostly non-land rover types .... not many here would know of the current trend of returning very early Land Rovers from OZ to the UK.. we got thousands of em and being dry most are still in reasonable shape - some of them are turning up at shows in the UK with aussie station and farm names scribbled on doors and such. I also know of a Morris army tillie from Tasmania, now back in the UK.. are there more

Recently I found out the owner is called Yvan Dumont. He bought a 1943 Chevrolet C15 which was used by a farmer and then a French fire brigade post WW2. He restored it to its former glory.
