Hello there,

This message is intended as a heads up for our 60th Liberation event this September;

As you will no doubtly know this year it's sixty years ago that operation Market Garden took place. To keep the memory alive and to celebrate that the region Eindhoven - Son was liberated sixty years ago the club WHEELS is organising;

A big Liberation-camp from the 13th until the 19 th September 2004. This camp is intended for as well as vehicle-, militaria collectors and radio amateurs as for living History groups.

It goes without saying that all this applies to equipment and groups from the period 1940 till 1945. The camp will be located in the community Son & Breugel, one of the well-known places where at the start of operation Market Garden paratroopers were dropped. The camp will be set up along one of the former dropzones, partially on pastureland partially in the woods.

The camp has got a double function:

1) A living camp where guests and visitors can see how our liberators lived and worked during those days, sixty years ago.

2) By presenting a full program giving the participants the possibility to participate in or being present at the different liberation activities that take place in the southern part off Holland.

Naturally there will be enough facilities on the camp such as sanitary facilities.

For tank owners or other tracked/heavy vehicle owners there is an arena on site were you can enjoy yourself to the full and where demonstrations can take place.

Make sure you are there; send you entry form in today.

Don't just look at it participate actively. You won't regret it.

See our website www.clubwheels.nl for more info and our programm or to download an entry form.

If you don't appreciate receiving this message we apologize.
Don't worry this is a one off message.

With regards,

Danny Bosma

Sadly a show too far for us this year and somewhat late notification.

Also, I think there's some tough talking coming from the MVT perhaps since the logo on the many mails I've received and also on the website is a virtual copy of the MVT registered trade mark.

Hello Richard,

The MVT is or should be aware off our logo.
We used it the last 15 years.

As for the late notification it has been announced earlier (last year ?). Although the final programm has been set recently.
As with Normandy things fall into place at the last moment.

Anyway it promises to be a great event.
Whether you are staying one day or the whole week.

With regards,

Danny Bosma

Possibly, but I'm hearing rumblings from other quarters.

I'm sure it will be and regret hugely we cannot be there, maybe something for next year as we plan the travel and what we can afford budget. We wont be going to the commercial circus that is Beltring and this saving has been planned in for the last three years to take us to other places.

I wish you every success, we're there in spirit as it were.

Ah. . . . . . . .

Bit of a change in event title nomenclature, you know full well I need spoon-feeding and would never have the nous to put the two together as the same thing. :

Well, doing a quick search on MLU it's easy to piece it together afterwards...
It's a very busy show season this year, I won't expect too many Englishmen to show up after organising & attending all manner of shows on the island, and hopping over to Normandy as well.
Just make sure you're here next year for the 60th anniversary of our liberation!

Wink We'll be there!

Hi Hanno,

We will be bringing 6 vehicles across from Norfolk Area for the celebrations 13-20 September. Although we will not be staying 'on camp', but at Heumans, I have already spoken with Danny re joining in with some events plus in addition attending Arnhem on the Saturday / Sunday. Vehicles are a '43 Humber Heavy Utility '44 Humber Staff Car, '41 Chevrolet Staff Car, '42 Buick Staff Car '44 Willys and currently my '42 Carryall although this may be replaced with the '40 Ford WOC1 if the current round of proving runs continues without mishap.

Lets just hope for some better weather than we have been experiencing the last two months!

Ian
