Default Happy Dominion Day!

Well, it's called "Canada Day" now, but some of us old-timers prefer the original, thank you very much...

On this date in 1867, Canada officially became a self-governing dominion under the British flag as personnified by an appointed Governor General, who acted as the reigning monarch's personal representative to the country. All matters of law and state were, however, now decided by an independently elected Canadian parliament acted under the purvue of the British North America act, which sadly, exists no longer. However, more than a hundred years of heritage and tradition had begun, most of which has survived to this day, even in the face of the evolution of this country and its population!

Ah, well, what can I say? I just may be a tad punchy as I'm all in a dither of excitemnt and disbelief... and I love EVERYBODY today! I'm officially moved into my new digs as of last nite and I love my Canada ... I shall be most hypervigilant in fighting and maintaining my Canadian freedoms in my little corner of "The 'Peg" ... simple because I believe in them and that we all should have them... no matter where we hail from, even across the big pond GRIN

Believe me, I go through my life, the ups and downs, and still know, EVERY DAY ... how extremely fortunate I am to have been born Canadian, and live Canadian. Other parts of the world have so many bad things, and deprivations, that we take for granted with our and

I'm spoiled rotten and have the audacity to whine sometimes when feeling deprived of all I take for granted, but I don't take them for granted, not really,,, not our good fortune won by the fight and might of those who rise up when we're about to go down ..... Oh how I love my Canadians and all our "friends"

(oops ... forgot to take my anti-talksident today... sorry )

Here is how I spent my Dominion Day - flying the flag that we became a nation under. This parade snap is from Preston, Ontario.

I am not seen in this foto - but you know where I am...
