Default Wireless Ford

This appears to be one of the "Wireless 1 Ton" vehicles issued to signals units early on. There are references to cabinets L.P. No's 2 and 3 etc in various wireless ( 101 and 109 set ) manuals but going by the few pics we have ,they all seem to be mounted in different locations within the ute tub. Some are sideways, others face the front..

There are records on the NAA archive web site relating to wireless cabinets LP No 2 and 3 , but you have to organize a viewing down in Melbourne.

Another variation of a Ford utility with wireless

Default useles trivia

This is probably a completely useles piece of trivia , anyway.

The No. 11 wireless set was used in various roles including vehicles of different types. The Aust. or Local Pattern version of the set has a little tablet that slides into a special holder on the front panel. Each vehicle type has its own tablet , giving tuning data for a given antenna . I happen to have one for TRUCK 1 ton . I know there are other tablets for MG Carrier and other roles.

I believe the official nomenclature for the truck was either : Wireless 1 ton or 1 ton GS van .. so truck 1 Ton is a oddity .
