Default Where's the horn go? F8

Where does the horn fit on the Cab 12 F8? I have the horn with bracket attached but no obvious home for it. Must be down low since there's precious little space around and above the engine.

Hi David,

I found the horn on the left front side of the chassis on our 11 cab F60H.

Good luck!

Stefan

Default Horn Bracket Location

David:
I have a F8 and the horn bracket is located on top of the left frame rail just to the rear of the left front engine mount. Attached is a picture of the bracket on my truck. Notice that one side is broken!

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Jim

Default Check out the Ford factory pics....

...not a F8 but..... gives you a good idea...

Funny thing it is black and the "long" horn like a Chev.... may have been another bad day at the Ford plant.....

Default At what point did they move the horn

Hi Bob

Yes, that does look like a Chevy horn on that Ford. My question is at what point did the move the horn from inside the engine compartment to the front bumper. I would suspect that the change came with the move to the 13 Cab.

Always wondered about the practicality of the horn in the engine compartment of a CMP the noise level from the fan is so high I think the horn is loader in the truck than out side.

Default Hornery question..........

The change occurred exactly... in May 22nd 1942...... on the evening shift right after the supper break....

I am sure David Hayward will confirm that momentous event.
