Bar Codes - a request
Gents,
The US Army in Europe used a system of 3 coloured bars and a serial number for transport organisation purposes before and just after D-Day. Does anyone have any examples of this in their collections, please, ie equipment marked with the bar codes and numbers? It was typically preserved on such things as personal kit bags and gear, but also on other items such as jerrycans, boxes, crates, etc I'm trying to see preserved examples to check the colour coding. If you have an example, could you either post an image or PM me with the image &/or details? Thanks Mike C |

I think Clive wrote an article on that in Milart a long time ago.

And I thought this was a post on "bar" codes, like police "ten" codes.
'All right boys, I'm Bar-6 (empty glass). Bill? You, Bar-19 (still got money)?"

Thanks, Harry, I have the article from Clive. I'm looking for images of preserved examples on US equipment at this stage.

Bar Codes Article
The article in question was written by me and published by both Milart and Militaria Magazine. Militaria republished it in their Canadian Soldier in Normandy book.

Thanks, Ed, yes, Clive sent it to me, but you are the author and I should have made that clear. It is an interesting article. But what I'm after now are some images of preserved examples, particularly of a US origin.
