Swiss Chris visits Canada
Grüezi from Switzerland
After several trips to Aussie in the recent years I think it's time to visit the homeland of all Blitzes: Canada I'll be travelling around 3 weeks between Toronto - Montréal - Québec, starting June 24th, flying back July 13th. And of course, there will be a reunion with Max & Kathy, who will be coincidentally travelling around Canada too. Are there any MV meetings, airshows, tractor field days, V8 meetings etc going on during my travel time? And, of course, I'm very keen to meet some Canadian MLUers, so I can put a face behind a name, see their beauties, have a chat etc etc. I haven't made a fix travel plan yet, so I will be open to any suggestions. See you soon Chris

Excellent
The Canadians are pretty decent hosts, as you'll no doubt find. Only downside is there aren't as many CMPs over there.
The most interesting aspect I think is their CMPs are generally so different to ours.

Border Raid - Advance Notice
Hi Chris,
That's great news you are coming to visit Canada. (email sent) A good starting point for you would be the OMVA show in Oshawa on Saturday June 25. If you can get a Ford out of OZ, maybe you will find yourself a Chev here. Looking forward to meeting you. Brian |

And just in case you are looking for another Ford, stop by the Hammond Barn. We have a rather (in)famous Ford that is looking for a new home. The Hammond gang remains Chev-centric and the Ford is nowhere on the radar for restoration. It really does not matter where you go in Canada, you will meet some very nice people and will enjoy the landscape. Happy trails!

1812 reenactor event in upper Canada VBillage around that time...no CMPs of course, but may be of interest (near Kingston) also.. a couple of events aound july 1 (Canada Day) with some MV participation...one involving the swords and ploughshares group... between Kingston and Ottawa.
As far as i know there is no organized club or group in Quebec, and collectors and vehicles are scattered and not in close contact.. not many from Montreal and Quebec City on this forum.

I finally got to meet "Swiss Chris" at the OMVA show in Oshawa today. Here is a photo of Chris with some of the MLU characters. There were a lot more MLU members in attendance but no one thought to organize a group photo with Chris ahead of time.
Cheers, Barry Left to right Brian Gough, Swiss Chris, Chris Vickery, Wilf Alexander, Gord Yeo and me.

Jordan, that Photo Shop thingy on my computer sure works well!
Barry Seriously though, I wish we had thought of a group photo. That photo was taken in front of Brian Asbury's flea market stall and we didn't even get him in the photo.

Blame the equipment..

Jeez Barry..I never thought a good wrench like you would blame the equipment.. I could understand if Lobsterman made the posting..but I see that Swiss Chris fits right in the Rogues Gallery and doesn't stand out like a Jeepy guy in drag.. Brian Asbury and Jordan Baker would have made great book ends for the shot..

Omva
Hi There
It was great putting a face behind the MLU names. Even got some Blitz goodies from Brian Asbury and some fantastic MLU-Shirts from Chris Vickery. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't promising, it was quite raining a bit. However, I wasn't the only Swiss onsite. There was Mowag Piranha 6x6 (Engineer Version), think you call it a Husky. I had the pleasure of driving Brian Gough's Willys Jeep What a nice little car. I'll be picking up my renting car in a few hours and driving East, visiting Barry and then go on to Montreal/Quebec. Greetings Chris Pic 1: Brian Asbury, Swiss Chris, Jordan Baker and Brian Gough Pic 2: Brian Gough, Swiss Chris, Chris Vickery, Wilf Alexander, Gord Yeo and Barry Churcher Pic 3: Swiss Chris having a bit on the other side and driving the only MV in Brian's yard that runs.
