Anyone watching the Royal Wedding?
Belinda has invited 5 of her friends tonight who are all sitting around the fire scoffing champagne and cackling like a coop of chooks.
(Which is why I'm monitoring MLU currently)

we are wondering if the potted tress from the Abbey will be planted around the world after the wedding, the Royal couple will be here in Canada later this year. Interesting green alternative to flowers, very modern touch.

William and Kate who are they?
Kathie watched it but personally I don't (and didn't) care a bit at watching it or hearing about it. Just have to put up with all the newspapers and TV stations doing reruns and talking about the darn thing and the dress for weeks if not months into the future now

Royal Wedding
We watched the whole thing, magnificent spectacle. Have to add the observation that Pippa (chief bridesmaid) looked damned good too.........
Just imagine though if the septics had staged it - Royal Wedding by Disney....

The wedding was announced to start really early in the morning in Ontario, but it was just getting interesting about 0530hrs and through breakfast.

Watching? Of Course!
I watched it for the same reason that I watch the Academy Awards, Logies (Aussie TV Awards), Brownlow Medal, etc... The Frocks... Which is a more polite way of saying what Alex said below...
I was a bit disapointed with the guests dress(es), I must say. Kate & Pip were gorgeous!

The Honourable head of Australian Government looked very nice...I wonder if she managed a sneak trip back to her former Welsh home town? Was there a Canadian representative?

Governor General David Johnston attended with his wife.
Our Prime minister was invited to go but the wedding being on the Friday and our federal election on Monday, he stayed home to kiss a few more babies and garner a few more votes. R |

Very enjoyable and as one commentator said it would be very hard for any other country to match it,because you need lots of nice castles, huge historic church and lots of beautiful classic cars and coaches.
Now a question my wife noticed this,on the way back from the ceremony when ever William saluted guards etc Kate would lower her head is this a proper Royal thing or a Kate thing. Something else I found out is funny little hats stuck to the side of your head are called facinators. Cheers Ken |

Indeed we may be deep in recession but the whole thing was superb, especially the trees in the cathedral. Did you see the the couple drive from Buck palace in his Dad's Aston Martin? Dangerous to draw comparisons, but Im sure Kate will be more iconic than Princess Di was (and still is).

I wonder who let them have plate "JU3T WED?" Common folk have to request vanity plates, and all the good puns or play on words were claimed long ago.

Watched and enjoyed
Given the normal fair of TV programing and news, it was really enjoyable to just sit and watch a HAPPY event. BBC America got it right with their live coverage they showed the whole thing from 3-9 without a single advertisement.
When by our little Inn run by two Britishers at 5:30 in the morning on the way to the Gym in the morning and the Inns lot was full and the Pub was open. Was a bit surprised that the flyovers went directly over the Palace but it was neat a great show. Hope the couple have a long happy life together. Cheers

My suspicion about the licence plate is that it was knocked up for the event, I know there are lots of restrictions to doing so but if you have clout . . . anything can be obtained.

The wedding
Hi All
Just thought I would throw my two pence worth in there. The wife and I watched the wedding thing from start to finish and really enjoyed the pomp and pageantry that only the poms can do. I don't think you can beat a military wedding in full kit. I loved the trees touch, I bet there will be churches with all kinds of greenery in forthcoming weddings for a long time to come. Harry seemed to enjoy every bit of it, though he looked a bit nervous in the beginning, he was probably wishing he was back in Afgahistan. The way the police handled the crowds was just what would be expected. From me down under, well done to you Brits. Cheers Tony

Re, seat belts and licence plate. The Aston is old enough that I don't believe it's actually fitted with seatbelts - couldn't see any in the pictures. As the roads in that part of London are actually classed as 'private' (within a Royal Park) I don't think that strictly within the law there were any problems with the licence plate on this occassion. If it was done on a normal day I expect plod would still have something to sy about it!

Due to a big storm that took out the power we couldn't watch any of it before work. I did manage to catch quite a bit at lunch time fortunately. The small TV at the garage was on all day and there were lots of clips on the news channels so any time you walked by you saw another part.

Strange lost power here as well
Hi Barry
Strange we lost power here just after 9 am here as well. They had just finished the live coverage here and they were starting the repeats when the power went out for the entire town. Killed the party up at the pub. I had set the DVD recorder the night before to get the live coverage which we did. My wife watched the whole thing live but I only saw bits of until we watch it in the evening. Cheers Phil

No plate
The front plate was the regular civil rego and the rear one was a made-up one that meant JUST MARRIED.
