Default M38A1 Fording Kit

Does anyone have more info on the M38A1 fording kits? I've recently acquired the hood/fender/rod brackets and would like to get one together.

Were they in use by us or only the americans? Any in-service pictures?

I'd specifically like to find a CFTO or any instructions and would be very grateful if anyone has measurements for the long rod that attaches to the side of the cowl to hold the snorkel hose.

Thanks,
Rick

Default fording kit

Hi Rick , what is the year of your M-38A1 ? the tailpipe needs to be modified to fit a cdn 2 or 3 due to the tail light being mounted outside of the body,
regards Frank

Default M38A1 fording kits

M38A1 fording kits I have seen come surplus from the Canadian army were standard US kits. A 4-page installation pamphlet was included. It shows the measurements for the installation locations. PM me if you want a copy. I have extra exhaust stacks, boxes of all the mounting hardware (clamps, exhaust pipe holder, nut bolts etc.) but no support rods, or flexible intake hoses. ...... Brian

Default fording kits

(In my humble experience) The fording kit was never issued down to the units - especially the reserve regiments. Heck, even the cutoffs were safety wired in the disengaged position. And, after years of abuse followed by just-in-time maintenance, I doubt anything would have been actually watertight.
