Here is a AWM photo showing one on the North/South Military Highway (Stuart Highway) here in Australia during the war. Whether it was in Aussie hands or with a British Unit based here I do not know.

Was that the one with a workshop body on and sold at the auction of a museum collection in Newcastle around 1996?

Default Leyland

Ken Hughes had a restored one( Leyland ) at the old Caloundra museum in 1979...I saw it there myself .

The Tasmanian truck is a Thornycroft ( featured in a very early W&T ) ..it now resides near Deloraine ..or did the last time I saw it in 1990 . It has a workshop body fitted.

Remember Ken Hughes museum well, it was on the then main road into Caloundra, he had a Matilda outside with the engine deck removed so you could crawl inside, and a RAN Sea Venom on a pole. Had some nice vehicles inside as well.
