I know this will upset a lot of die hard cmp restorers but the question goes out
what are some of the weirdest ,strangest and clever things youve seen done to poor unsuspecting c.m.p.s here is a couple of examples that have been done in this area -A 300ci d series ford engine in a f15a (no pictures) man you used it said it was good for 75 mph !!! yes i did ask him if he was scared and his reply was "once the vibrating got to concentrated drumming i knew it was time to back off " -a 6.7 litre turbo charged chev into a c15a . this project is still in work stage .it includes full a frame rear end (he is making it for rock climbing and extreme 4wd trials) -A 4.2 diesel from toyota landcruiser in a c15a . I will attach picture of this one in early stages :

Blitz jet truck
I remember seeing pics of a Blitz with a jet engine strapped onto it in a magazine once. Did a quick web search and found this video on youtube. Pity it's at night though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgBfkfn1D5M

Here's a pic of it on the original chassis:
And here's the Sigvan body which was removed: More here. This pic was taken at Corowa in 2003 during the Year of the Studebaker run.

Forklift
This forklift operates in a timber mill and was converted from a Chev which was re-engined with a Holden red motor.
And another: More pics here.

Just a bit modified
This one...
originally posted by Mike Kelly in the Corowa 2008 thread, as stated has a 302 Windsor and C10 auto trans fitted. Apparently, used to run sweet. It moved to Tasmania where it spent awhile bogged below high tide line on a beach. .....now lives in Adelaide.....but pretty seized and rotten. ....Another thing on the restore list. :dh: Pedr |

Still working
Seen in Bright Victoria, Ed Cook still uses Blitz's for his everyday work. This Ford is a very handy unit and is shown here picking up a Limber No.29 axle for me on 2nd June this year.

spring buffer
thats a good idea on a crane .lift something a bit too heavy and get the wheels off the ground theyve got a nasty habit of breaking the top spring on the return to earth !
that would help alot

Garage
Yes, It was a similar body. I have seen another of the same WO number with what appears to be a standard dropside GS body too although it may have been a retrofit.
I think a few of these were retained into the 1960s as were many other specialist CMP types and some were demobbed into the various fire services. What I find interesting is the WO52 trucks I have the numbers for were assembled at three different plants - Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. To add a small detail the WO 52 was a Garage for the Armoured Division whilst WO53 was the same thing for AMF.

Semi
The cab has had the usual mod to keep the roof on after the wood on the cab brow fell apart, and looks generally beaten up but at least it hasn't been run into anything as witnessed by the straight bumper.
