Default Vehicle signs for bridge weight rating

Could someone explain for me please the yellow circle with black #'s that are on WWII vehicles. I know the lower the # the lighter the vehicle but is there a chart for what # corresponds to each weight. Did each bridge have a rating displayed in the same fashion? Thanks.

There are charts in some of the manuals which give the bridge class for each vehicle type. Bridges were marked with their maximum.

Anything under 2 tons did not require bridge class markings (ie jeeps and motorcycles.)
