Ferret rear-view mirrors
Happy New Year Everyone,
Would any of you know of a source for rear-view mirrors for a Ferret, or have 2 they could spare? I need 2 for our Museum's vehicle. Cheers, Chris Preston, Victoria, BC, Canada |

Chris,
I ordered a pair a couple of years ago, for the restauration of the last remaining Ferret (They had only seven)of the Dutch Army. The Ferret is now on display in the National Army Museum, wich openened last December 11th. I Think it was at Marcus Glenn, but I just checked out his site, and did not find them. I'll look around. What kind of Ferret do you have? Gr. Bob |

Ferret mirrors
Hi Bob,
Many thanks for the reply. Our museum has a Ferret Mk 2/3 (with a turret). The Cdn Army operated several of these (with turrets) on lone from British Army stock in Cypres, when we first deployed there for peace-keeping duties in 1964. Our vehicle is operational but is a work in progress and I'm slowly correcting things as I go along. We have only one mirror on our vehicle and it was incorrectly mounted on the left-hand smoke grenade launcher, using the outboard wing-nut. Thanks to Robin Craig, I now have photos showing the correct mountings which are being fabricated, but I still need 2 mirrors (I'll mount the 3rd on the turret as per our photo of the original). Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Chris Preston, Victoria, BC |

Ferret mirrors
Check the current postings for CMP Parts( ex-Argentina). Those are WW2 CMP mirrors but virtually the same as the early rectangular convex Ferret mirrors. The only difference being is that the WW2 mirror housing halves are held together with 4 sheet metal screws while the Ferret mirror frames are held together with dimples.

Painting Chrome
Hi
What tricks have people found for painting chrome plated parts? I've tried washing the part in metal prep acid wash, the cheaper the chrome the better this seams to work. Cheers Phil

Hi Chris,
Some pictures of our Ferret on display in the museum. Check out the early lucas lights on the mudguards. The reflectors on the front and on the side as well as the blinkers are dutch modifications. Best regards, Bob |
