Default carolle's New Thing 181

Here is Carolle's Mother Days gift, lot better than jewelery and a lot more fun. We found it in Kemptville by the highway. It is a 1971 Kubelwagen and it is a military vehicle. The vehicle was bought in Germany 5 years ago, imported to Canada. It is in good condition, starts and runs great and stops. It will have to be repainted and some body work underneath but overall a very easy project.
I already have parts for it, they are similar to the Iltis i.e. wipers, dash etc. The roof is removeable and the door and windows seperate. It should be ready for the 1st July Parade in Kemptville. The vehicle fits our era of vehicles. 60's to 90's.

Nice find. I have a friend here in Manitoba that has been looking for years for one and has had no luck.

Good find Gilles! With the price of gold by the ounce these days, Carole might argue she was robbed of a valuable Mother's Day present, but none of us would dispute your astute investment.

Like many others have already posted, I am jealous.

Gilles,

Excellent choice! This class and type of vehicle is a very much underestimated HMV. And being based on the VW Beetle it is an excellent daily driver - let alone a direct descendant of a classic WW2 HMV, the VW Typ 82 Kübelwagen.

See VW 181 Facts & Figures for a cache of my old web site on the type 181. Click here for some historical background.

Regards,
Hanno
