Default Mills Web Pattern 1937 Binocular Case

The Mills WE Patt 1937 binocular carrying case has three metal belt hooks on the back. See attached photograph. The two lateral ones are obviously for attaching the case to the Mills waistbelt. But what is the purpose of the single belt hook on the top? You’d think it would be for attachment to a brace, but it is the same size as the ones that attach to the waistbelt, and since the braces are narrower than the waistbelt, it looks too wide to fit the brace securely. Any ideas???

The double hooks on the top of the binocular case are for attaching it to a compass pouch when that is worn above the binocular case there being a web loop sewn onto the base of the compass pouch for this purpose. A normal brace attachment is used to connect the cross strap to the belt which is threaded through a horizontal loop at the top on the back of the compass case then down behind the binocular case to the belt. Hopefully the pictures will help with my explanation.

Default A Little Thing Called Google

Hmmm, simply Googling 1937 Pattern Binocular Case would have given you the same information.

Some people enjoy the interaction with fellow enthusiasts and collectors. Sometimes it's about the journey and not the destination.

Is it really the interaction or just too lazy to look for themselves? First it was not buying a reference book because the information is free on the internet, now it is why look on the internet when someone else will find the answer for me.

Well personally I was more than happy to share knowledge and the reference books I do have. It would be a sad world if we all relied on Mr Google and stopped talking !!
