Agreed the panels are the type used on a T-16 around the engine compartment. But I've never seen the disk with four bolt holes or the plug and bar in it's center before on a T-16.

It could be something associated with a T-16 but the single shot doesn't trigger any bells for me.

Kevin, the drain plug is for a No2 MK2 *. its the hull drain plug at the front. If you have T16 parts up for grabs Rick Wedlock could be interested.

Hi Rick, I sent you an e-mail yesterday, both side covers and this rear cover are yours, will trade for good carrier wheels or short length of good carrier track, I guess these covers are usually missing on restoration projects.

send us an email kevin .

Along with other things, I think the drain plug would be the same as my AOP MkIIIw.

Default Mk. II* drain plugs # 13910

In a similar forward location to the Mk. I*, the Mk. II* forward drain plug is a round threaded plug with a bar welded across the top to create a handle.

The Mk. I* opening is oval, there is no interchangeability of the parts.

Default My Conclusion

From the info gathered, I would conclude that at some point toward the later stages of production, the tooling for the MkII's was altered to allow for the more simple construction by use of a flanged pipe fitting. This was obviously continued through out the rest of the Canadian and British production. (MkII, MkII*, MkIII etc) The two change dates may not have coincided.
I remind people that many MKI's and MkI*'s were converted to MkII's etc. (See Nigels books)
There will be a lot of MkII's that have the oval hole.
My Dagenham built Ford Armoured OP (T84991)was the 370th, of a batch of 3,443 (T84621 to T88063) Production ran from the 17th september1941 until 16th march 42. I suspect the whole run would have been tooled the same way, and so the round drain arrangement was probably in place at 17th september 1941. The first MkII U.C's were in a batch numbered around T63xxx. This accounts for a likely time frame in the U.K.
I have no time frame for Canadian production.

After some thought, I edited my last post, because it was mis-leading. Have another look.
