I've decided to move to your place. I like the sound of those toys.
I'll bring my hammer and shifter. I might even let you borrow them.

Default Carrier

Colin, mate, very impressed. It looks fantastic that shade of green.
By the way, I haven't forgotten about our last conversation and plans. Am a tad busy with a few things happening out this way.
I will definately ring this week and we can sort out the final details.
Send me a PM.

Just a question for the experienced mvcollector. Does anybody know if the steering wheel and steering box from all carriers came off anything else or were they purpose made items.
Colin.

I DONT know the answer to your question.
I would think that the steering wheel is specific to carriers. The lay out of the spokes is not seen anywhere else( I've just put myself broadside)It allows the driver to see through the wheel unhindered.
The next thing is the offset of the rim in relation to the centre boss. The rim is forward of the centre, which makes it much easier to skin your knuckles. this design is the reverse of most other steering wheels.
Having said this, the likes of the steering box, is often an evolutionary thing, and I suspect its origins come from something else. I dont remember who made the boxes for the English carriers, but the Canadian ones are made by Ross, which is the same name as the steering box in a Willys MB.
The aussie steering box is a progressive improvement on the others, in that they have an integral mounting bracket. something less to work loose.
So...Why do you ask?

Hi Lynn, the reason 4 asking is that I am on the look out 4 both items and i thought if they were out of something else as well it would be another avenue to look 4.
regards
colin.

Default Steering Wheel and box

Colin,

You still have both sitting here at my house. Just let us know and I will organise to drop them off.

Haven't noticed what's going on, on MLU at the moment as busy with work, but Darian Carn alerted me to your post.
