rare FWD HAR-1
That's the collection of the late Kevin Purcell - see http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=30824
We've seen his FWD HAR-1 on here before.

The WC-52 is in the background of the pics of the Command Car (Lot 1), but doesn't seem to be listed. And what has happened to LP Carrier 4963?

stuff
When I was there at Yaven Ck in 1976 Kevin had a very nice early script MB Jeep project and a US made Willys/Bantam Jeep trailer with the round guards that was in excellent condition. I asked Kevin if he would part with these but he wanted to keep them.

I managed to contact the auction company and hopefully I will have an answer Friday.
Three days ago the link worked fine, then yesterday I tried it again and nothing. What we were looking at had lot1 then the rest were lot 999, so I am hoping it is down to de catalogued properly. There were mistakes in the entries also the 6x6s were listed as 6x4s. I'll see what I can find out this end.

I drove past Kevin’s place today and saw a Pickles Auction ute in the yard and a few people gathered around his storage shed.
One can make a relatively safe assumption that moves are afoot.

So, did we all know this?: https://www.pickles.com.au/info/bid-...ow-info#online
"It is possible to be the highest bidder on a Pickles Online item, but still not win the auction. This is because the vendor that owns the item may set a reserve price. If bidding reaches the vendor’s reserve then the item will be sold. However if bidding does not reach the vendor’s reserve then the item will not be sold." Many of the vehicles in this Auction DO HAVE a reserve price, and will not be sold if that reserve is not met. No negotiating with the highest bidder, it's "reserve or nothing". They may consider the option of a Vendor's bid if the bids are in the vicinity, but not quite there yet. And they won't be revealing the reserve price.

The Diamond T ’project’ has now had the engine removed from its photos as it was being listed separately.

I read the terms and conditions, but didn't notice that this sale had reserves.

I was only bidding on small items and am happy I won six lots. I dropped out of several other lots when they went past new price. The vendors should be happy.

It seems the auction and its results have been taken offline? https://www.pickles.com.au/trucks/it...Items/44001023
I heard the FWD was sold for its reserve price at AUD 40k. Like you said, the vendors should be happy with the results (not with the loss of Kevin Purcell of course).

The FWD HAR-1 was bought by the Wheels of Liberation Collection in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, USA.
Photo shows the FWD on a recent outing.

Export permit?
I wonder how the HAR-1 was able to receive an MCH permit for export from Australia. I'm not aware of two others held in public collections in Australia, which is the basic criteria for an MCH Permit for permanent export to be granted.

Hi Mike, I'm with you on that one.
I worked on that truck and supplied parts like the two bonnet sides to Glen S to get it restored. In 2009 John Hedges had to ensure that he brought the Ford ute back to OZ when he did the Lang K. trip to Normandy and not to sell it overseas. Is it too late to ask how they got the permit to export? I reckon they just snuck it out of the country. To many of our heritage items are snuck out. About 3 years ago a traction engine was made to return to Australia as the correct permits had not been issued. Regards Rick.

Cultural Heritage Export Permits
Same here. Two years ago the only flying Catalina in the Netherlands was sold to - you guessed it - the USA. The association had run into technical and financial problems which eventually led to them having to sell it. Sadly an export permit was granted by the government. One of the reasons which was given was that it wasn't a Catalina which was operated by the Netherlands Armed Forces. At the same time the Dutch government intervened in and funded some art deals. I guess it all boils down to what one defines as "cultural heritage".
Oh well, the Catalina is in very good hands now and under transformation to her orginal configuration - see http://americanaeroservices.com/pby5...459grphc2.html
