Here is the wiring after 1940 probably 1941 or 1942 for 12 and 13 cab trucks from the special pattern vehicles hand book and the dash lay out for 12 and 13 cab.

Just a question about where these 2wd trucks like mine would have served in Europe. From Africa I would think some went into Italy , how about in northern europe?
I was thinking about using markings from Moosomin's 101st LAA ,maybe ? They were with the 4th armoured Div. Any Ideas? Anthony

Hello Anthony,
As you rightly note early CMP's like yours served in North Africa, Scilly and Italy by far the largest users in these theatres were British forces. In the UK from the earliest arrivals in the summer of 1940 both British and Canadian forces were issued with 11 then 12 cab CMP's for use on the UK mainland. By the time we were in a military position to invade Europe in 1944 most of the front line units had been re-equip with 13 cab versions with the exception of your 8cwt range which had been phased out of production in mid 1942(with the exception of the Chevrolet HUPs). A large number of British operated and I suspect Canadian 11 and 12 cab CMP's were transferred at this time to the Free Polish and Cheque forces who used them in their operations in N Europe. Having said that there is photographic evidence of early cab CMP's being used by both Canadian and British forces right up to the end of the war in Europe. Pete |
