Hanno, never found any other information. However as my file is fluid and flexible it gets updated and amended as new info comes in..only this week we found another Australian Ford contract.

In that case, may I suggest you alter the entry as follows:

"C291Q: as C291WQ but without winch for UK, possibly AUS, as C291Q. L-W with full cab"

Just trying to keep your file from becoming too flexible

H.

Default Ta!

Thank you Mr S...I have amended my file.

I have decided that I am going to at last write to Sandra Notarianni at Ford of Canada and ask her for details of all known wartime Canadian Fords. She of course sent me the F8A photos.

Default Ford model codes

The deeper you go into the Ford model codes the more confosing it becomes.
I was thinking about the letter D in the code C11ADF and wonder if it comes the model D used for the 15 CWT light truck , a model between the model C 10 CWT (1/2 ton) and model Y one ton..
One question, Does the C11ADF use the 15 cwt axle with full floating hubs amd a single join / partition in the rear axle (like the bigger truck diff).
.
The 15 CWT axle uses 4.1 ratio gears while the 1 ton axle uses a lower gear ratio and bigger brakes.

John,
I seem to remember the C11ADF uses the F8 8cwt rear axle, and the C11AS used the normal civil running gear, but I am sure Ian McCallum can tell you more.

Regarding the "D"....I am sure this has come up on the forum before regarding a 4x4 chassis Indian Pattern (?)

Hello John,

Confusing it is! See Ford model designation for a pretty complete list.

I bet the top one is one of the RAF purchases from Ford in Alexandria! Excellent, thanks.

Here's another picture of one of these 1940/41 model FC60Ls (C098TFS, F-60428-C and/or FC60L?), very obviously captured!

German Einheits-Fahrerhaus. If I remember right these standard cabins were introduced in 1943 to facilitate production. They were used on several types of trucks.

Here a Ford 3-tons.
