I had the same trouble with the usual front door. The other one worked but did some funny things with links to posts saying there was no such thread.

Weird... I thought they had that whupped! They adjusted the sequence of DNS-related addresses in the nameserver and it's been working ok here when I've been on, but obviously still buggered. I repeat for the general audience, use the Tortuga link if the MLU one doesn't work:
http://tortuga.dnsrouter.com/~mlu/forums/ This is the router address sans DNS. If it doesn't work then they're rebooting the server, either that or it's under attack. I'm going to request a change of server to see if that works - I'll try to give you notice, but if you encounter extended outage, that may be the reason why. One way or another we'll sort this out!! ![]()

G'day Geoff,
I only got on through Tortuga yesterday. Seems to be OK through MLU today. Good Luck Rick

Morning All (My Time).
Have probably been unable to get in MLU proper 20 times this week on the first try. Often I can get in by just trying again but not always. That I can live with, I guess. The reason I am writing today is that the site has slowed down considerably again when moving around or when I post something. Then, I was denied photo uploads about three times in the last two days because "file too large". The photos were quite OK and in one case had just been sent to another Forum that has the same size regulations this one does. Today at 0300 I could not get on and the error screen was in the German language!! I don't know if that is a tip or not. No answers unfortunately, just observations. Bill

Hi Geoff,
I often experience outages and from checks I've run they primarily appear to be DNS related. I haven't had any success with the tortuga address on the two times I've tried, so when I get in its via orbit. I've emailed my ISP's helpdesk and asked them to cast an eye from their end and see if they can spot anything I haven't. They haven't responded but I may have to chase them up. If I learn anything that might be useful I'll pass it onto you. ![]() Regards Alex |

Alex,
Forget the Tortuga address, it's no longer valid. I'm aware of the goings on right now. Periodically I'm getting tons of "too many connections" SQL errors which portend a brief shutdown after major slowdowns. I don't THINK it's us... I believe there's something else on the server which is getting bombarded and shutting everything down. Aside from that there seems to be a software issue as well, which I'm not having much luck with at present. I will get that sorted, though, then I'm thinking seriously about changing servers if I can get no satisfaction on this "too many connections" issue. Some days this is like pulling your own teeth... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Alex, The upgrade didn't go and I am awaiting a response from the vBulletin people. I had to restore the original files but something in there was quirky and didn't go... it may well be associated with the hacking a few days ago. I'll complete the upgrade and go from there ASAP, will advise on completion. Jif

Another thing... try logging off then logging in again after you clear your cache. I'll have this sorted permanently tomorrow morning, if not this evening. BTW, I do note the Quick Reply function seems to be disabled too. Try the straight 'Post Reply' button rather than Quote or Quick Reply. Jif

When I click on "Quick Links" in the tool bar the page reloads with a different toolbar with "Open Contents Popup" in that position.
