Sovereigns Parade
Just got back from delivering my MKII carrier to Wellington Barracks in London.
It is taking part in a pageant to open the New Household Cavalry Museum in London. We will be do a dress rehearsal on Horse Guards Parade and then drive up the Mall tommorrow evening. Then on Tuesday 12th June the streets around Buckingham Palace will be closed whilst we do it all again infront of the Queen. There are around 50 vehicles taking part and around 250 horses. The Guards Regiments and of course the Household Cavalry. There will be Two Carriers taking the salute from her Majesty. ( keeping fingers crossed we keep going) If your in London this week, this is one not to miss. Tickets are still avalable for Horse Guards. Pictures to follow. |

first time
This show had never been done before. The last time carriers were on the streets of London was 1945. Can you imagine the look on our faces when Buckingham Palace aggreed to shut off the roads in the centre of London. For two evenings...
God save the Queen!! |

There is at least 1 cut down AEC in a UK scrap yard but as usual, the owner is very eccentric and probably will not sell it untill he dies.
I heard of a second example at the weekend and I am waiting for confirmation. There is very little left of the body on this example. There is also a rolling chassis belonging to the command version local to me. I must also admit to being the driver in the Buck Palace picture. I cannot take responsibilty for the commander. The picture was taken during the journey between Chelsea and Wellington Barracks. Thankfully we had some very good Military out-riders who waved us through all the red lights.
