F60S LAAT CH55582744, a new one to me. I took pictures of it in Amstelveen on 5 May.

I updated Dutch CMPs using some pictures Gerrit de Waal posted on http://www.fordgp.nl/Bevrijdingsdag.

Apart from various CMPs - including that HUP fire truck! - some pictures of British vehicles, notably the venerable Bedford MW.

Enjoy!

Found a new pic of an 8-cwt, must be one of the batch imported by Dirk Leegwater.

It must be the one from the "Witten" family. It's indeed one from Dirk's. Here it is at last years Arnhem remembrance. Really nicely restored, although I am surprised they decided to build a new "lengthened" short box.

This thread on provincial licence plates contains some great pictures of CMP and MCP trucks, plus a good helping of GMCs, Bedfords, Dodges, etc, in civilian use shortly after the war.

Default Interesting

That's an interesting pictorial thread, thanks for sharing it Hanno.

I notice there is a propensity to create as much load space as possible on the CMPs with the roof over the cab as well.

I wonder how much time this C60X would spend in top gear with a full load... no, wait; I forgot it was in Holland!

You win some, you lose some. This C15TA was recently exported to Canada where it went to a good home!

The pictures of this Ford F60L (built in Feb. 1945) were sent to me by it´s Dutch owner. He has asked me to help him identify the body.
The owner bought the body separately, which he thinks was once fitted on a GMC CCKW-353 - note the long wheelarches in the inside pic.
Maurice Donckers indeed recognised it as one of (at least) five ex-C60X bodies which were transferred to GMC chassis after the C60X was phased out of service.

For good measure, here´s a picture of a C60L with Lindsay-type body. This is the version 10 foot long, there also was a 12 foot version on the 158" chassis. The body fitted to the C60X chassis is 14 foot long.

Regards,
Hanno

I saw this body again yesterday, the current owner and I were discussing this configuration. There were many Lindsay type house bodies in Laboratory, Machinery, Stores and Switchboard configurations, but we are not sure if there ever was one with only windows in the side and a rear door. Most likely this was part of the conversion done by the Dutch Army.

I checked the MoD Archives and found some pictures for comparison. I suspect it was originally a closed body and the four windows on each side were added when it was “converted to a mobile switchboard in 1955”:

Hanno,

I agree that this is most likely a Dutch post-war conversion, as I am not aware of any versions with 4 windows each side and no front windows. Detailed pictures of the body, and any remains of welds and holes could help with determining more about it's origins....the two wingnuts and brackets on the left wheel-house could be remains of the spare wheel carrier, but hard to tell.
you say "a rear door"...does it have only one? Is there a locker on the right hand side front of the body?

Here is another picture from the NIMH archives, with 4 Lindsey bodied trucks, two of which seems to match the body as indicated in this thread. One of the two might actually be the surviving body.

enlarged from this picture:

https://nimh-beeldbank.defensie.nl/f...d-ab668a65651d

If you look in Gregg's "Canada Fighting Vehicles" you will note that the "Chemical warfare laboratory" is somewhat close, with 1 of the same windows (in the same position) and no workbenches or doors in the sides, but there were none in the Deelen dump post-war as far as I know. There were however 2 TEV Army C60X trucks in the Deelen dump in 1946, so that is a possibility. It's a hunch however, as the body could also easily have started life as a Stores body as they were plentiful!

Hanno,

I just had a look and indeed it's one and the same truck (pictures attached); the location and size of the bridge plate, the non-original (?) bumper and latch on the engine lid gives it away. This truck has found a new home in Holland....actually not too far from you and me.
It has had a repaint and has been renumbered. I had a look at the truck recently and it is in very nice condition.

Here are a couple more pictures of this C15, taken at an event at Kornwerderzand recently by my mate John "Rippo".

By the way did the canadian army in ETO ever used 4x2 trucks ? The CZ42 number is pure fantasy .
By what I figured out with Bart Vanderveen all the 4x2 contracts were for the British army , numbers started all with Z444..
Does anybody have wartime oictures of 4x2`s in Canadian service?

Update!

New (to me) C8A HUP:

Recently restored C15A and Otter (see album for before pictures):

Couple of post-war 15-cwt conversions:

British vehicles are becoming more popular in Holland: brace of Tillies. . .

. . . and a Fordson WOT2 recently imported from the UK.

(One of our forum members recently brought one home from Germany and restored it in record time.)

A unique Dutch C15TA was sadly exported - but we can't keep them all:

Enjoy!
Hanno

An ex-RNLAF F60L has turned up in Belgium, identified by the red-white-blue-orange-dot roundel on the left-hand front cowl.

The last picture shows an early post-war picture of "Luchtstrijdkrachten (LSK)" vehicles. Next to the roundel on the left side, the F15A has "LSK 324" on the right side of the cowl.

Has anyone found these types of markings on their CMP?

Thanks,
Hanno

It's not an unusual position of the brush guard but a late one. Here are some details:

Clevis - towing

This ex-RNLAF CMP turns out to be an F15A - see more pictures in CMPs for sale in Belgium.

As the inside of the cab is painted red, I thought this F15A could have served as a fire fighting vehicle, either while in RNLAF service or after. However, on this site I found a ca. 1948 picture of an "Ford F15L Manschappen-slangenwagen" (personnell and hose truck) at Air Force Base Leeuwarden. It seems the interesting array of vehicles are any shade of green, but red!

Default CMP's etc. soldiering on in Holland

I have recently run across a number of Dutch vehicle photo sites that amongst other things have photos of ex CMP and other US and Canadian vehicles in use post 1945.

As I have time, I will post some of them in this thread.

Edit: So sorry, Hanno, I was too lazy to do a search. The Registration/License Plate sites are a hoot and there are several more with upwards of 20,000 images. Driving me crazy with all the prewar US car/truck photos, a great love of mine.

Cheers
Bill

Awesome Bill! That first CMP shows "Hillegom" on top of the cab. Hanno's hometown! The picture was taken right next to Haarlem trainstation, around the corner where I used to live! "Spoorzicht" is now a Chinese restaurant.

Look at the wheels on the F60....duals at the rear and reversed wheels up front. I have seen this on another Haarlem CMP pic before; maybe the same truck.

At first I also thought this to be a retrofitted US body, but some details like the round holes in the lid pointed towards British or Canadian lighting. Obviously that could also have been done post-war. A buddy recently told me that the owner convinced him it was originally a Canadian Stores body. So after another look at the truck and the Servicepub CD-rom I have to agree....it's a Canadian Stores body with some slight modifications!

Hi Alex:

Glad you enjoyed the pics.

Given the size of these archives, I realize I won't live long enough to go through all of them and pick and choose what I think might be interesting.

So, go here for the info on the license plate series.

https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp...pw.r_qf.&cad=b

And here for over 20K images and links to other similar sites.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4222007...oto_6062058715

Note that each photo may include links to similar photos. A Benz station wagon may also be featured in a Flickr Photostream
dealing with "European station wagons" and so on.

Probably well over 100K images at least even if there is a lot of duplication.

Hope you have lots of time.

Cheers
Bill

Bill, Alex,

What ho! I hadn't spotted that detail yet! I know the spot it was pictured also as my loved one used to live near there.

Re. those wheels, it looks like the LH front is a reversed rim while the RH rim is standard. Those were the days before mandatory yearly technical checks!

Thanks,
Hanno
