This Heath Robinson contraption looks like it was planned and built in 7 days . Imagine shooting at Zeros with this thing .... the GMH designers had a night out on the turps I think .

Mike looking at your picture #2 the Aussie ones did have the British style ammo racks fitted while the 2lb attack carrier had one that was totally different. Is this correct or did the later production ones change the design of the ammo racks? I always thought the Aussie ones had the different behind shield rack to the British.

The ammo boxes on the AT Carrier are different. They are made from 1 inch angle with a locking bar down the front to stop the boxes falling out.

Sights
Back in the late 1970's , early 80's , a well known chain of disposals stores here in Vic. were selling the 2 pounder gun optical sights .
If only we knew then etc......... Mike

Hi Gents ...I have not been able to Log On for Months , I Emailed the MLU site many times but got a message that there was a problem and never heard back. Finally I was able to get on tonight so , I hope whatever happened was fixed.
I want to thank all of you for some great info and I'd LOVE to buy a copy of that Book that Mike Kelly Posted (thanks for that) --Cliff , I think you're right in that I have the standard Ammo rack (less the Box and Leather Tool case) but the Carrier version was different (as Ian pointed out too) Mine is 100% Australian and proud of it !! Thanks to Ebay ..I was able to find the Original Optical Sight for it complete with the little tool in the Leather case. An Antique Dealer in Cape Cod had it for $100 "Buy it Now" ...boy did I hit that button fast ! Nicely marked and dated 1942 so it matches with my Gun. The Gun participated in the West Point 4th of July Parade last year and I already have another Veteran Group ask to use it this year ...it's nice seeing it used and enjoyed like that. I still have not found a Seat or Ammo Box but , I won't give up ...this 2Pdr will be with me for a long time. Here's the sight -- Last edited by Mike P; 12-04-07 at 08:52. |

Here are a few Pictures from last Years West Point Parade right outside the gate in Highland Falls NY. A good friend of mine had me drive his White Half Track while he towed the 2Pdr with my Jeep ...I had a horrible time , never want to do that again
I loved every minute |

Here I am driving it ..he's thinking about selling it and , yup , I'd love to have it ..I have to convince my Wife first though.
I run a Mess Hall so ..I ducked out of the Kitchen for this and still had my "Whites" on .. |

Here's the view as I drove down the street ...the only problem I had was , the Car in front kept tossing out candy and the Kids kept running in front of me to pick it up off the road ..not smart considering the Half Track didn't have modern power brakes.

Hi Mike, thanks for the update. Seems you're having tons of fun with the gun.
Found these detail pictures of a restored 2-pdr in the USA: http://svsm.org/gallery/40mm_2pdr Could be helpful to further detail yours? Good luck, Hanno
