Beer for the troops...
Mill St. Brewery sends Super Bowl salute to soldiers in Afghanistan
Award winning GTA-based Microbrewery Provides Beer for Super Bowl Sunday Celebrations at Kandahar's Canada House TORONTO, Dec. 20 /CNW/ - Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan will be celebrating Super Bowl Sunday with some bodacious batch-crafted beers from the GTA-based Mill St. Brewery. Mill St. will be sending cases of its award-winning Tankhouse and Stock Ale to Canada House, in Kandahar, for the February 4, 2007 NFL Championship game. Mill St. recently approached the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency about providing beer to troops stationed in and around Kandahar for Super Bowl Sunday and were granted special permission for the delivery. "This special opportunity to provide beer to our forces for Super Bowl Sunday is thrilling," says Tony King, Marketing Manager, Mill St. Brewery. "Watching sports with a cold beer in your hand is an integral aspect of Canadiana, and we are pleased to be able to give our men and women overseas a small, but delicious taste of home." The special shipment will be sent out in early January, in order to arrive on time for the Super Bowl. "As a company, Mill St. wanted to make this gesture in general, as a token of our appreciation for the risk our soldiers make for Canada everyday they're overseas," says Tony King. "But as word of our donation spread through the company and industry, it was apparent that this was more than a general statement of support; it very quickly became very personal." Among its connections to the Canadian military, Mill St.'s Western Ontario Marketing Manager Doug Cameron is a member of the Fourth Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment, a reserve unit (of the Canadian Forces); Tony King's father served as a member of the Canadian Forces with NATO forces in Germany and countless other Mill St. employees, friends and family have connections to the men and women serving in the Canadian Forces.
