Sorry to hear you have hit a rough patch, Rod. Life can be a bitch, but there’s always hope for things to get better. I hope your hobby is what keeps you going, if not then get rid of it. I know a couple of people who were fed up with it one day and got rid of everything. It was a big relief for them. Others find joy and new energy playing or tinkering with their collection.
Hang in there!

I have been out and about
A road trip for a nice cab, so little rust, this will save me weeks of time. It was missing the right door, air vents, the side panels, and bonnet These were the parts I already had, so i couldn't resist sitting them on Next - Got a starter and distributor for the Bedford engine Some years ago I was given a Caustic hot bath cabinet, rusted with holes of course, I fibreglassed the inside and have it for my molasses soak now It holds 400 litres I have a gearbox, a clutch, 2 manifolds, 3 heads, 2 rocker covers, a foot air pump, compressor off a blitz and lots of bits and pieces in it now The 200 litre drum has 2 sumps a few other bits and a wok Now I do other things while I wait about 8 weeks |

Interesting cab
Purchased via UK order 907 in 1941, temporarily assigned to the USASOS in 1942, and later returned in unserviceable condition. Note the absence of a roof hatch - normally a standard mod to Cab 12's arriving in Australia and being assembled by FMC.

51554
If you have been reading my other posts you will have read I put up a rough shed in which to assemble blitz trucks especially the radio van.
I had put the chassis for the truck 51554 in the shed at one end, and there it sat over summer and the heat. Parts are out of the molasses pressure washed and coated with sump oil There has been some activity on the truck front with more purchased and their post will be put up eventually when they arrive. In the last few weeks I have got 51554 partially assembled and out of the shed. I have put in the engine, gearbox and transfercase I have used the second best parts from the three trucks wrecks I started with, although this cab was the best and was destined for 51555 until I got that good one a while back Sure looks nice sitting in the paddock There are more parts to fit to it as I sort through them, Eg steps and bracket for the fuel tanks, the drive shafts, maybe even seats But I have no doors Now I have 51555 chassis, front diff, engine [which is running] gearbox and transfer case all in the shed [second photo] These I will slowly assemble after sandblasting and priming In the meantime I am attempting to put up yet another roof to at least get the fronts of the other trucks under some cover when they get here, and that involves shifting good handy stuff and clearing trees, grass and weeds. Also concrete footings of some sort Along with the never ending spraying and mowing of grass It is a real physiological boost to get this much truck put together |
