Cab 13 Spare wheel carrier and Box
Hi all
I am the proud owner of the below wheel carrier and box but for the life of me I can't see how it attaches to the chassis of my C60S It was originally a water tanker so maybe it never had the carrier? Can somebody shed some light on how I am to attach it to my project? Say photos of the brackets etc TIA |

Cab 13 tyre carrier to chassis brackets
Hi Bruce,
Please find attached a photo of the spare tyre carrier brackets on my Ford F15-A. I cannot confirm if Ford and Chev used the same brackets however. So many minor differences between the two I would not be surprised if they were not. A while ago someone posted on the CMP Facebook page the actual original drawings for these brackets. Perhaps this may jog someone's memory. Originally, they were riveted to the chassis but as they were often removed in civvie life most are now just bolted back on. Cheers,

Awesome looks very similar the height was an issue to me.
I'll store that away and see if there are more responses with different 'angles' cheers |

C60s
I believe the C60S and Ford F60S models were mostly used for 'special' bodies rather than being fitted with the cargo GS bodies.
The tanker variant would have had a different style of spare wheel carrier. Were there two types of those carriers you have pictured , for the 16" and a bigger one for 20" wheels ? A Ford CMP tanker used to turn up at Corowa years ago . pics https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C65862 https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C65836 (Appears to be the short 200 Gallon version) https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C46236 https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C207968 Looks like there were two local CMP versions: a short 200 Gallon and a longer 400 Gallon tank. https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C207828 The MCP type with 200 Gallon tank.

Thanks mike interesting that the petrol tanks are situated so that the filler is away from the cab and clear from the tyre holder. That allows for the tyre carrier to sit well low, just above the chassis.
great photos |
