Looking for Sherman plate steel in British Columbia
Good day all!
Two questions - does anyone know who is behind the Youtube channel 'The Backyard Tank Show'? Second, an acquaintance in Ottawa makes axes and he asked about getting 20-30 lbs of plate armour from an M4 for his projects. Provenance is important with this guy. Who in the Lower Mainland of BC might have something or be able to help me out? I will be visiting Vancouver the week before Easter, and would have no reservations lugging home a suitcase sized slab.

Bob
I might have to do that. There's no weight limit on cabin luggage!

But there will be on objects that can be used as a weapon.

I could say I prefer a stable lap table for my complimentary 5-oz cup of sparkling water.

Ten days away from my trip to Vancouver, and asking again if any MLU members have other friends or contacts who might help me get a piece of M4 Sherman armour. My friend will settle for a piece of Spar Yarder plate if he can be reasonably assured the yellow paint is over wartime steel and not Caterpillar dozen blade.

Southeast Equipment (SECO) had no shame stripping wartime chassis' and half-tracks to make log skidders. There wasn't just one company. Finning shortened M4's to lug pneumatic drills and compressors up steel rock faces. Madill had a source for M4 and M32 lower hulls. The company wanted their simple and rugged designs, so I'm reasonably confident the lower hulls were kept as the foundations. The track geometry lined up and the plant didn't need to plan and drill a lot of holes in virgin steel plate. Not to mention Vancouver Island is a long way for Canada's steel producing regions.
