Must be, as there are 100's of them outside RSLs around the country, but they're not positioned very photogenically, mostly in shadowy nooks and crannies.
Where is "The" Australian Army Museum? Surely theirs would be the best example?

Fake!
Yep, a BIG load of BS ..... trouble is, someone is likely to believe it. It will probably creep into a publication eventually and become 'fact'.
Have to wonder about the mentality of the person who spent time and effort making all that up. Mike |

I looked at other entries on that website and there is tons of BS on it!! Just look at this entry on the page for David Brown Gear company; 1940 - 47 (UK) The Halifax Coup and events stemming from Britain’s Armistice with Germany saw a downturn in David Brown Ltd’s fortunes. The German occupation from late 1942 saw the order book refilled, but little enthusiasm on the part of staff and workers. The Park Works were attacked by the US Navy on several occasions, causing a great deal of superficial damage that was used to justify a general downturn in output. I think if the US Navy had attacked a factory in Huddersfield, Yorkshire it would have been quite remarkable. I wonder who wrote all this garbage?

Think you missed this when reading the web site linked above:
'Important Note. This Website is a work of fiction set in an alternate universe. While based on certain historical events any similarity, of characters to persons living or dead, their actions and events surrounding them are purely coincidental. Although the names of historical characters appear, they do not necessarily represent the same people we know in our reality.' http://tbo.wikidot.com/front-door |

I did come across that statement after reading a lot more misleading information on other subjects. No idea why anyone would waste their time writing this rubbish.

Alternative (or alternate) history is a common literary genre. There are numerous novels and essays, and probably more than this one website. Quite a few authors have indulged in it. Winston Churchill even wrote an alternative alternative history essay entitled "If Lee had not won the battle of Gettysburg". Harmless entertainment as long as no one mistakes it for actual history.
