Canadian contraption, C1905
Not military, nevertheless this is quite amazing. This is the preview size.
Here's a link to the page it is on at Shorpy. It is well worth it, the detail is incredible having been shot on a 10X8 dry plate camera. All I know is I want one. Yes, both a 10X8 camera and this contraption.

One of the things that struck me was that the contraption has smooth tread solid tires in the snow....... and we think the NDCC bar treads are bad for skidding on smooth surfaces.... we must be getting soft.

Is it the timber used? Method of construction? Some minor detail in the background? I am always amazed at your powers of observation!
