Default RIP Dave Brown

Just a message to those who knew Dave Brown. During the night he passed away after a long term illness.

He is well known for his knowledge on Land Rovers and Ferrets and was a founding member of the Australian Ex-Military Vehicle Collectors Society (AMVCS) in New South Wales, Australia. He attended the majority of the Corowa Swim-In events since 1980 and was one of the organisers of Back To The Track in 1995. He attended some of the early Normandy rallies with Peter Gray.

There are many funny stories involving Dave within the military vehicle scene and his time in the Army. Funeral details will be posted shortly.

Sad news........the first time I saw Dave was at the D-Day show, Southsea in 1984, when a group of Australian enthusiasts came over for the Normandy tour. It was not until 1995 that I got to know him, when he invited me to join him on the Back To The Track convoy event in Australia, after that I came over on quite few more occasions to join him on the journey to Corowa. We had some good times, and visited a fair number of pubs across the country

As Jan has said, I am sure those that knew Dave, have some good stories to tell.

It was good to know you, Dave, old mate.

Default Sad news in deed

Had the pleasure of meeting David at the CMP 84 Conference which he stopped on his way home from an event in England. He had a wonderful slide show of military vehicle collecting in Australia which he shared with the group one evening. If I remember correctly David, Bart Vanderveen and myself were the only non-Canadians attending the conference and I think we all felt privileged to take part in that bit of CMP history.

David is at Left between Bill Gregg and Peter Ford

Cheers and Best Wishes to David's friends and family

Phil,

You were in good company, but not many of those men in the picture are still among us. . .

RIP, Mr. Brown.

Hi Hanno

That fact hit me when I looked at the picture, and caused me to do a web search on then Col. James Hanson who if I have the correct person is now Retired Brigadier-General James I. Hanson who is still active in Canadian Military History.
