Default WW2 history in Lithgow...

... comes and goes.

Just as we've nearly completed the restoration of the 3.7in AA gun emplacements at Lithgow, comes the news that Australian Defence Industries will be rationalising the SAF site by demolishing some WW2 era buildings, starting with the large building known as the Bren Section. This building housed the WW2 production of nearly 17,500 Mk1 Bren guns, and was later used through the '50s and '60s for the refurbishment and conversion to 7.62mm programmes.
The AA gun emplacements have been cleaned out, signage in place and three of the four gun pits have now got their 3.7in guns back. As an aside, does anyone have a spare 3.7in gun to fill the fourth gunpit?
