Any interest in repro covers for WS-19s?
I have a cover - PC - 64418 - c, ZA-10317
I am entertaining the idea of sending it to Irfan to have some copies made up. But it seems like there is a whole sub-culture of WS-19 canvas covers out there. I am looking for a cover for the side-by -side version as used in AFVs or Mk1 carriers. If I can track down a copy, or good drawings, I am willing to send mine over as a sample for types of fabric, zips, snaps, gussets, etc. If one can be made up for a reasonable cost, what kind of interest would there be in getting a fresh reproduction? |

Jim, I like the idea of reproductions so the increasingly fragile originals can stay warm and dry inside.
One note: the side by side cover is for AFV's as you say but the Mk.1 Carrier had the supply unit on top of the sender receiver. The correct cover is a large one that bolts on under the side firing rest and covers the entire set back to the aerial mount. The lower lip serves as a sleeve for the aerial F sections. I can provide detailed drawings and pics of both and think you could sell a good number of each if they were decent reproductions. The right tan waterproof canvas would be wonderful to find if possible. |

I know Frank Brown over here in UK at Pegasus Drive makes everything from web straps, canvas seats, screens etc, even hand made Dennison Smocks. He was trying to source the material or get it reproduced for the capes.

Me too, never been completely happy with my more modern, though genuine examples.

I think there is some possible confusion on the various covers. I'll try to show the differences.
Covers, Waterproof No C1. ZA1076 PC 90674C-191 This was the type used in the Mk1 Carrier. It was attached to the hull side plate between the firing rest and its support. it covered the entire radio area. There were also three sleeves to hold the antenna sections when not being used. Covers, Waterproof No 1 ZA2952 PC 90816 C This was used to cover the WS19 and PSU when they were mounted side by side on the Carrier, Set No21. Typically used in armoured vehicles. it just covered the radio and PSU. Covers, Waterproof No 5 ZA10317 PC 64418 C Used when the WS19 was mounted on in the ground station roll or in trucks when mounted on the Carriers, Set No23. This covered the entire radio set, PSU, variometer and the switch control box.

Jim -
According to Jordan's post, the one you've got (PC - 64418 - c, ZA-10317) is the one I need for my ground station. I would want to get one. The one I've got currently is what looks like the Covers, Waterproof No 1 ZA2950 PC 90795 C, except mine doesn't have any markings so I don't know the vintage. Is this the type you're wanting to replicate? Chuck |

Chuck I mis-typed the ZA and PC #'s in my original post for the Covers Waterproof No1. They have since been corrected.

Im not too sure what cover was fitted in the Mk2 Carrier. The PSU was mounted on top of the Ws19. So the Cover Waterproof No1 wouldn't work in this instance.
