Default New addition

I recently purchased my latest addition to the collection.

It's a 1942 Weir built carriage, serial 2024, the No 27 is dated 1938. They came with lots of accessories and just need a bit of tidying really.

Default Spookily enough ....

... actually reading this in my temporary office on the fourth floor of the Weirs building where that was made. The company transitioned to Clyde Union Pumps and now is a division of the American SPX group, but I don't think the buildings have changed much.

Gordon,

I used to make pump bases for Weir Group. We had been making them for Girdlestone Pumps here in Suffolk but they closed the factory and moved it all to Glasgow. Our input ended soon after!

Not planning eh? But if you stumble across a nice CGT or FGT .... What about a classic British 1943 Morris C8 Quad Gun Tractor up for grabs? Or a nice Cab 12 CGT?

They would not be wasted on you

Hanno

Hi Adrian,

My 25pdr is Weir no. 266 and the Australian War Memorial have no. 504 both are not modified with the flash guard and counterweight that yours has. Congratulations with your purchase. Enjoy the restoration and post plenty of photos. Regards Rick. (from my hospital bed, 17 days so far but improving daily).
