Default New Chev Blitz arrival

This old Chev will be familiar to a few of us.
Keith Webb photographed it back in 2003 for his oldCMP site while Euan's father I believe purchased its Ford stablemate from the same property some years ago ( Please correct me if I'm wrong ).
The truck now resides with me. Originally I only intended to photograph it. But it was in need of a home and I couldn't say no.
A former State Electricity Commission truck built for lopping trees back from telephone poles. The modifications I'm told were done in Leopold, just outside of Geelong. So it has a bit of local history. It is possibly one of two trucks built. The others whereabouts are unknown.

And is it just me or do the doors on Blitz's ignore what ever you try to tell them when your transporting them. " Bloody stay shut!" you yell. But they just spring open the first chance they get and try to embrace the world, scaring the shit out of oncoming traffic!

So I've heard. Apparently it was built for the midget minority of the western allies.

Terrific for bringing home long lengths of....anything.
Would be great to restore in its present configuration, certaily be one of a kind now. Are they louvered windows? Original pattern door top on drivers side too.

Default From Anakie

Yes, that looks like the one. Anakie was blessed with several CMPs back when I photographed them.

Nice interesting vehicle to own. The one Iain bought was a former RAAF F30 ambulance.

And given the 16" wheels it's not out of the question for the Chev to have had the same ambulance origins.

More here.

Default It's an oddball.

Hi Richard,
Yep, they are louvered windows and they work fine too. About the only thing that does though. Unfortunately the sump has a blend of oil and water in it.
The bloke I purchased it from still has much of the SEC gear such as the chainsaws stored away. He was going to turn it into a yard crane but never did.
It will make a ripper farm truck though.

Keith, Anakie still has some surprises although the bushfires two years ago claimed a few Blitz's, including a F15A that had NOS tyres fitted just prior to its loss. Bugger.
