Cab 12 alligator hood support

Anyone know if the cab 12 alligator hood was equipped with some sort of support or catch to keep it open? I don't see any evidence or remains of such a device on my truck.
It's a heavy beast to hold open and I'm not too happy propping it open with a piece of wood! That Ford engine is hard enough to work on as it is. OK, you can slide it off the hinge rods but it needs two guys to get it back on again!
