End of the world!
This was taken two years ago in January. This is a very rare sight at times for us, sometimes once every three years. The New Forest is behind the hedge. Southampton is a few miles to the left. End of the world stuff!

Agghh!
Our garden is being covered by horrible white stuff! Our poor car (British-built Honda Civic to the right) is getting covered! What are we going to do?

Sheds
Yes, to the right they have chickens in them thar sheds which they allow out. I wonder if your house (and you can see the size..we rent by the way...) is worth $650,000 + Aussie money? Behind the houses are $800,000+?

Snow??? Mountains??? in Australia???
You mean those Tourism Australia people have been lying to us on the tv commercials that are currently running in Canada? All they show are buxom babes in bikinis on the beach at Surfers Paradise. Mind you people can get the wrong idea about winter in Canada. We don't all have to shovel the white stuff. I actually had to dust some white stuff off my flowers the other day. Tis true that Karmen gets a bit of white fluff (snow) now and then but her part of the province thinks it's in Alberta anyway. |

Odd weather
One week ago it was 30 cm of snow, followed by -15 degrees, in between it snowed some more. Yesterday it rained about 30 mm so we could have had another foot of snow. Instead, the snow on the ground packed down quite a bit and many people were busy clearing some of the weight off their roofs. So far this winter we have already had more snow than for all of last winter. We spent quite a bit of the day yesterday clearing snow around Bob's barn. Not because we had to move the snow to get in, but once it refroze (happened overnight) it would have made any more snow removal a major job.

I freezed for a couple of days in Holland, everything was covered in a frosty layer. Even the water froze over, so we could skate for a single day.
This is in front of my house (daughter on the right), taken on 22 December. Two days later everything was green again.

Rain!
We have rain here! It's about 8 C at least but feels warmer. I cannot recall rain on Xmas Day ever but there you are. I do however recall the Terrible Winter of 1962-3, when we had SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW over Christmas, and apparently the temp stayed below 0 until March every day!

Glad I'm warm and toasty in my apartment but must go out later. I hope it warms up a bit by then Ma |
