Hi all - sorry about that. I realised afterwards that the image was in Tiff and then of course I had to find the original. Hopefully this will work.

It looks pretty clear to me that the first of them was #6001.
One would assume that this would have been the number of the pilot model. Lynn.

That means I have number 2 off the production line and probably the oldest known attack carrier still left.

Hi Graeme Sevens here,
I'm a bit dubious about 'Luke's Find' being so old, as the mountings for twin aircleaners appear to emerg with later production around ~ 6146. An A/T Carrier over here (6081), may have it's production stencil under the towing lug .... see photo. If you accept that the body was upside down when applied at 'Metro Gas' Your A/T body seems to have lots of old paint up front, maybe an 'upside down production No.' lurks underneath ??? Note the plain two-tone cammo. G7s |

Hi Graeme, what exactly are you looking at in your photo.
The number "2" is clearly visable on the towing hitch and is in the same position as "19" a/t carrier I have. regards Colin. |

Identifiying particular A/T carriers is a bit frustrating if the ID plate is missing, and also the front tow lug is damaged or missing.
I'll put forward another way to identify a serial no., if enough original paint is still upfront. During manufacture the hull was placed upside down. The body number was painted 'above' the front tow lug for tempory identification. The last photo from me was of A/T carrier 6081, hopefully you can zoom in and see, just under the tow lug 1 8 which I take to be an upside down 81. To put my theory to the test, in this photo is the A/T carrier that was at 'Langwell Station' near Brokenhill in 2000. Again hopefully you can zoom in and below left of the tow lug is 0 8 1 , does anyone know the ID number of this a/t carrier? the ID plate was intact when the photo was taken, if it's not 6180, looks like I'm eating crow !
