Cab narrowed? Yes, seems to be so! Wouldn't this mean that the axles were shortened as well?

Could the cab have been modified to fit a different chassis?

I think it's an optical illusion caused by the fact that the cab has been lengthened making the truck look narrower. Also, The windscreen has been tilted to the rear and it looks like a snow plough was once mounted to the bumper. I've never seen the O P D CANADA before either. Derek.

cab has been narrowed as the 'F' has been cut off the FORD CANADA script.
attached is an unaltered one showing that the front was narrowed by cutting the centre part away. ![]()

I think Keith Webb initially posted pics of this peculiar Ford.
And here's a link showing more pictures: http://www.oldtimer.or.at/ford_can/ It has indeed been narrowed, including the axles! ![]()

Yes, that's the same truck. Any idea why it has been narrowed?

@ Hanno; I recall that the Gemrans during WW2 had a narrowed version of their Kfz.15 (Horch) for the mountains --- due to the narrow roads.
Might be that the same idea was behind the narowing of that poor CMP. But what an effort... Maybe somebody could ask the ower of the truck. It is to be found at: Leutasch/Tirol im Ortsteil "Platzl" near Seefeld/Insbruck |

Mini-mi is on Ebay.... I remember we discussed this narrowed and shortened F15A on the forum before, after Swiss Chris (?) found it. None of the extensive mod's are mentioned in the ad though, expect for the engine swap ![]() http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 Alex

@ Tony
![]() The question comes up in the old thread as well......why did anyone bother to modify this truck to such an extent.... Hanno mentioned the word " Unimog"....wait a minute.....could this be a prototype Unimog? It does show a lot of simmilarities with the first Unimogs when it comes to wheelsbase, width...no cab roof....and a Merc engine! That would explain why they didn't bother to keep the word "Ford" in one piece on the clip and why they even narrowed the fenders. Alex

Chris,
Well, the axles and chassis seem to be modified Ford Units as well and the engine is a Mercedes unit according to the Ebay auction. So, an explanation could be that the people behind UNIMOG used surplus military material to build their first prototype Farm tractor. But, why didn't they change the driving position from right to left.....hmmm, maybe it's got nothing to do with UNIMOG after all......the NATO indicator on the sides also point towards a later modification; First UNIMOG was from 1947(?)
