Tony,
This seems to be a 'Pump, Liquid, No.2' used to replenish the recoil system of the 25 pounder field gun/howitzer. You are missing one cover ( similiar to the one on the other side ) and the delivery hose, which connected to the recoil sytem reservoir through a No. 14 or 17 adaptor. Good Find!!!
