Les,

They are coming through the sales quite regularly now, so not sure if there are many still in service. We recieved one at Workshops to replace an AEC medium recovery (Militant Mk3) around 1978, when they entered service. The one in your photos is likely to be a trials one as the census number is early and it has Leyland on the front where all EKA wreckers had Scammell. Also it is in gloss Deep Bronze Green, none of the production ones were supplied in gloss, it was IRR olive drab. Ours served us for about 18 years, normal repairs plus a new cab (rusted out)
and engine change.
